Front Porch Music
A community composed of songwriters. Moving past isolated, competitive stages to co-create music for the common good of South Austin.
Upcoming Songwriting Retreat
When: Friday, June 5 – Saturday, June 6, 2026
Where: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (South Austin)
Join us for an intensive, two-day collaborative songwriting gathering. Instead of writing in isolation, we will process local stories, poetry, and artwork in small groups to co-create original material. Our goal is to write collective songs that serve local justice efforts and lead our neighborhood toward healing. Space is limited to ensure close, meaningful collaboration.
Why Front Porch Music Exists
Austin has plenty of venues and open mics for solo performers to share their own work. However, those environments can easily become isolating, competitive, and driven by ego.
Front Porch Music offers something different. We are a collaborative space where real people work together to meet real human needs through song. We shift the focus away from individual spotlighting and toward communal creation.
Our Creative Focus
Humanity & Justice
Restoring dignity to those who are perpetually mistreated or dehumanized, including our immigrant neighbors, sexual minorities, people of color, and women.
Environmental Care
Deepening our relationship to the Texas land, practicing intentional creation care, and honoring the local ecology of our neighborhood.
Economic Equity
Examining the dehumanizing effects of consumerism, greed, exploitation, and rigid class systems through honest artistic reflection.
