We’re Cultivating A Safe Church

In a world where the vulnerable continue to be exploited, the Church must take action in safeguarding the physical, emotional and spiritual health of every person in its care. To help equip all staff and volunteers, we require annual safety and prevention training.

It is our utmost priority to cultivate a community and culture that is safe and healthy for everyone and to be equipped to provide trauma-informed care for all.

Spiritual Abuse

Our Professional Development for Clergy encompasses crucial training in trauma-informed care, spiritual abuse prevention, and creating a holistic safe church culture.

CHild/Youth Protection

Our Child and Youth Protection Program helps safeguard children and youth from any form of misconduct. We use a proven 5-step process:

  1. Screening

  2. Training

  3. Interacting

  4. Monitoring

  5. Responding and Reporting

Sexual Harassment

Our Sexual Harassment Prevention Training helps our church not only avoid issues of sexual harassment but cultivate a work culture that is safe and healthy for everyone.

Report Misconduct

The Episcopal Diocese of Texas respects the dignity of every human being.  We want our congregations and communities to be safe spaces for all people, young and old.

All sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, bullying, and discrimination should be reported to the head of your congregation or organization so that it can be addressed and stopped.

A report may also be made to the Rev. Lisa Hines, Canon for Wellness and Care and Safeguarding Minister at 512.609.1876 or report@epicenter.org

Any misconduct involving a member of the clergy should be reported directly to Canon Hines.

Not sure that you need to report?  Contact Canon Hines for a confidential conversation. To the extent possible, reports will also be kept confidential.
