Season of Creation 2025
Week Two Spotlight - Seasonal Resources for the Fall
by the Rev. Ryan Boettcher
On my sabbatical, I leaned into learning about seasons in Texas the hard way. For example, I had the vision to create a garden in my yard during my time away, but quickly learned that the summer isn’t the greatest time to begin a garden. There was something important for me to learn about learning to live into the rhythms of our good Earth—both for my spiritual life and for my participation in the stewardship of creation.
Austin has some great resources for helping us lean into these seasonal rhythms! Whether you are looking to plant a fall garden or just learn what are the best produce options right now, the following will help you along the way!
Texas A&M Agrilfe has put out a great checklist for those who are working in their garden in September! Check out their September Gardening Checklist of the Austin area!
Central Texas Gardener has a great “To Do List” for all kinds of plant life that lives in our yards. Whether trees, flowers, or grass, they have great tips for nourishing your yard this Fall! Check out the to do list here.
Farm To Table Texas has a great “Seasonal Produce Chart” that lists all the best vegetables and fruit for specific times of the year here in Central Texas. Check out the chart to find out the best produce to get for September.
